Overview
A visual showreel for FastMeet, an event that brings together car enthusiasts and drifting culture, built to capture the event’s energy through fast-paced camerawork and a movement-driven edit rather than conventional storytelling. The goal wasn’t to document the event as it happened, but to produce a piece that showcases the team’s style in shooting and content-making.
Role
I worked as a cinematographer within a four-person crew, contributing to the visual style from prep through hand-off to editing. The workflow relied on direct collaboration between camera, edit and color grading to reach one unified vision.
Scope
Prep ran three days, spent studying visual references and setting the rhythm the piece would be built on, while the shoot itself was compressed into a single day with a small, agile crew — no heavy production or rigging required. That approach gave the team more room to react to the event as it unfolded and catch real moments, rather than following a rigid shot list.
Concept
The project was built on a clear visual reference that set the shooting language and edit rhythm, while leaving plenty of room for improvisation during the shoot. The focus was on conveying speed through camera movement, angles and short, rapid-fire cuts — so the edit becomes an extension of the motion in the scene, not just a way of joining shots together.
Execution
During the shoot, the team focused on catching the event’s most dynamic moments, using the movement of the cars, the smoke and the pace of the scene to build raw footage that gave the edit real flexibility. Once shooting wrapped, the material moved into edit and color, holding the rhythm agreed on from the start, to land as a fast, dense visual piece that reflects the event’s identity while showcasing the team’s approach to automotive content.
