Overview
Al-Sharq Conference was a major event bringing together a select group of speakers and influential figures within a dialogue space built to surface contemporary ideas tied to the regional context. The coverage called for more than documenting an event — it meant translating its atmosphere and its messages into a coherent visual narrative that carries the spirit of the conference. Rather than approaching it as conventional event filming, it was treated as a cinematic work documenting presence, movement, and the weight of an idea inside a living, shifting space.
Role
Producer & Director. I held full oversight across both production and direction — from setting the creative vision to managing on-the-ground execution and shaping the final form of the content.
Scope
The coverage produced a complete system of visual material: full coverage of the conference sessions; the speakers’ key moments and pivotal quotes; daily recap videos reflecting the event’s rhythm; content built for social media; interviews with speakers and participants; promotional material before and during the conference; photography coverage; ad content cut from event footage; and a short documentary capturing the essence of the conference.
Concept
The aim was never to document the event, but to reframe it visually. Al-Sharq was treated as a living system of ideas, movement and interaction. The creative direction leaned on storytelling rather than direct documentation, so every shot carries an intent and a meaning beyond the moment itself. The visual style was cinematic and editorial — focused on considered composition, balanced rhythm, and continuity of feeling. Instead of isolating moments, the emphasis fell on the relationships between them and how they build into a larger story that reflects impact and presence. The goal was to turn a formal conference environment into a visual experience that carries its intellectual and human weight.
Execution
Execution was defined by precision under time pressure. Working within tight schedules, across multiple locations inside the event, and around official figures and VIP guests, demanded constant coordination between production management and field direction to keep coverage continuous without losing the narrative dimension. Every piece was designed to fit its platform — from fast social clips to longer narrative pieces — while holding one unified visual identity across all outputs. Despite the logistical challenges, the project landed as a complete visual work that redefines conference coverage: from mere documentation into a coherent cinematic narrative.
